On the 1st March 1993, I set my alarm for 3:00am, drove to the old Melbourne Wholesale Market on Footscray Road, and purchased fruit and vegetables for about thirty families. Twenty-five years later, I reckon I’ve clocked up about 150,000 deliveries, to hundreds of families, many of whom have been loyal customers for up to eighteen years.
Over the last twenty five years, the ways in which businesses communicate with their customers has changed. When I first started back in 1993 customers would call a pager number, leave a message, and I would call them back. Most people then didn’t even have a cordless (landline) phone, so they would be racing back and forth between their phone and their fridge letting me know what they wanted to order. When cordless phones became the norm, the ordering became quicker, because they could take their phone to the fridge! Once mobile phones became popular, customer were even easier to reach. Now everyone has a smart phone, so they can be easily reached, and ordering can now be done on our online store with any device.

Online ordering is not for everyone, so if you’d prefer to order over the phone, then call me on 1300 133 109 and I’ll organise to give you a weekly call.
