There will be no deliveries week beginning Monday 18th October 2021.
Deliveries will resume the following week, so just one week off.
Cheers,
Michael
Micky Booth Fruit and Vegetable Home Delivery Melbourne
Fresh from the market to your door
We offer three different corn chip varieties: Original (Plain), Tasty Cheese & Zesty Lime.
We also sell a Mild Salsa to go with them.
Had a supply issue with the Mini Roma tomatoes again late last week, so had to substitute with Cherry Toms again.
Corn is in short supply again, so none this week.
Believe it or not, stone fruit shouldn’t be too far away.
Just a short one this week, hope your team wins.
Cheers,
Michael
Baby “Love Beets” are pre-cooked, so all you have to do is add them to your favourite salad, or eat them as a snack on their own.
We have plenty of herbs to add to salads or to cook with: Chives, dill, mint, coriander, basil, thyme Vietnamese mint are all readily available at the moment.
Alfalfa, crunchy combo, mung beans, and of course avocado can be added to your salad.
Have a good week,
Cheers,
Michael
More than ninety percent of Australian grown asparagus come from the Koo Wee Rup area in West Gippsland or from the Mildura area in North Western Victoria.
They started harvesting in Koo Wee Rup a few of weeks ago, and this coming week is the first time we will be offering them for sale.
Tangelos are also on offer this week. They have a tang to them, a bit like a cross between a mandarin and a ruby grapefruit.
Have a good week.
Cheers,
Michael
Just a reminder that we stock a number of different mushroom varieties.
From the plain and simple small white cups, we also sell punnets of oyster, swiss brown, portabello, shitake and sliced.
I have found a source of kafir lime leaves, so if South East Asian cooking is your go, I can get those, as well as sticks of lemongrass.
Locally grown leafy greens such as silverbeet (green and rainbow variety) and Kale (tuscan or regular) are available all year round.
Towards the end of last week, I had trouble getting mini roma tomatoes again, so substituted with cherry tomatoes. I have been informed that supply of mini romas should be back to normal again this coming week.
Have a good week.
Cheers,
Michael
Mini Roma tomatoes are available again, weather starting to warm up, so salads should be on the menu pretty soon.
Iceberg lettuce are back to normal pricing, other salad options are baby cos lettuce, salad mix and wild roquette.
The sunny weather should bring on an early asparagus season, which usually starts around mid-September.
I bought a bike last week, first bike I’ve had in nearly forty years. When you put it that way, you realise just how quick life passes before your eyes.
Take care, and all the best to everyone.
Cheers,
Michael
Blueberries have finally come down in price, so now we have both strawberries and blueberries to choose from.
My pear supplier also sells apricots during the stone fruit season. One of his growers in Tasmania has started selling Apricot Jam, made from the Moorpark apricot variety. Apparently the grown lost a lot of apricots last season due to frost, so decided to turn it into jam. We’ve nearly polished off a jar of it at work!
Purple or red sweet potato is back on the online store. It’s purple on the outside, with white flesh.
Cheers,
Michael
The strawberry quality continues to improve, so this week there is a multi-buy special on them. The Hass Avocado have been good for quite some time now, they also are good value.
Iceberg lettuce are starting to improve, they are not huge, but better than they were a couple of weeks ago.
No pineapple this week, they are a bit small, and not sweet enough. Hope to have them back on soon.
That’s it from me, here we go again.
Cheers,
Michael
I had trouble getting mini roma tomatoes last week, so if you ordered them, you probably received regular cherry tomatoes instead.
I very rarely substitute items if they are unavailable, but on this occasion I did as they are very similar.
No mini roma again this week, apparently the grower is having trouble picking them. They are from Queensland at the moment, so not sure if it is a weather issue, or a staffing/restrictions issue.
A new “multibuy” feature on the online store allows me to offer discounts for multiple items.
This week avocados are $1.89 each, 2 for $3.30, 3 for $4.95…
Have a good week.
Cheers,
Michael
I started offering strawberries again late last week after not selling them for at least a couple of months.
They are coming from Bundaberg, which is located 360 km north of Brisbane.
Please take into account, by the time they are picked, packed and transported to Melbourne, it’s at least a couple of days before you get them. Don’t expect them to last as long as locally grown strawberries (which are not available at the moment), so best to eat them within two to three days (or sooner).
There is an issue with spring onion supply at the moment, so I’ve taken them off the online store. You’ll also notice that cucumbers (both lebanese and continental are expensive, but are available).
Generally speaking, when something is expensive, it’s because supply is limited, and it’s not in season. So you pay more, for inferior quality.
Have a good week!
Cheers,
Michael
