Quite a lot to report after the first week of deliveries for the year.
The heat is taking its toll on the quality of greens, particularly those grown in South Australia. My supplier has warned me that the continental cucumbers may turn yellow within a few days of purchase. For that reason, I have taken them off, and only offering the lebanese variety this week.
Won’t be offering strawberries either, they are all grown in the Yarra Valley, if it’s not the heat they have to deal with, it’s the thunderstorms and hail they experienced last Wednesday afternoon.
William Pears are back on the menu, they are the variety that ripen very quickly, and change colour from green to yellow. Best to keep them in the fridge if you want them to last the week (pull them out of the fridge a day or two before you plan to eat them).
Yellow nectarines are in short supply, so switching over to the white variety this week. Clingstone peaches are in full swing, and plums are also a good option at this time of the year.
Still only two apple varieties available (Pink Lady and Granny Smith), both are old season. New season Royal Gala still a couple of weeks away.
That’s it for this week’s update, feel like I’ve written a short story.
This week’s early bird coupon code for a 5% discount is: CC55
Have a great week!
Cheers, Michael
