Looks can be deceptive! That sums up the Tasmanian Apricots that are available at the moment. They look a bit “rough” due to some unfavourable weather conditions, during the growing period, but their taste is sensational.
When it comes to fruit and veg, it’s understandable that we tend to “buy with our eyes”, and when I buy the produce from the market, I tend to do the same. These Tassie apricots are the exception, a bit marked, but very delicious.
Valencia oranges (the summer variety) are also in short supply. The best Valencias are exported overseas, we locals are left with the ones they can’t export.
New season Royal Gala apples are not far away (maybe a week or two). The only apples available at the moment are Pink Lady and Granny Smith (both old season).
Have a great week,
Cheers,
Michael
