Hi everyone,
Just a reminder that there will be no deliveries this week.
Back to regular deliveries week beginning Monday 8th April.
Cheers,
Michael
Micky Booth Fruit and Vegetable Home Delivery Melbourne
Fresh from the market to your door
We are delivering as usual this week (Wednesday 27th and Thursday 28th March), but not the following week which is the first week of the school holidays.
Green grapes are still available, but will finish soon. The red seedless grapes are probably a better option, they are picked later, and will be available for another couple of months.
The local Navel oranges should be available sometime in April. The Valencia variety which is available now is getting towards the end, and looking a bit tired; they are still good for juicing.
Have a great week, enjoy your Easter with family and friends!
Thanks,
Michael
Apple picking season has begun, beginning with the sweeter apples like the the Gala. They are new season and just off the tree.
Pink Lady and Granny Smith apples are a sharper apple, and are not ready to be picked yet. They are available for sale, but are not new season.
Afourer Mandarins have also started, seems to be a lot earlier than usual.
The Imperial variety (the easy to peel ones) are probably still a month or so away.
I took home a pineapple last week, hadn’t eaten one for a while, well what a pleasant surprise, they are super sweet.
Deliveries as usual this week, and the following week leading up to Easter.
Have a great week!
Cheers,
Michael
Due to the long weekend, there will be no deliveries this Wednesday 13th March.
Thursday deliveries on the 14th March will be as usual.
If you live in one of these postcodes (3111, 3131, 3132, 3133, 3134, 3135 and 3152) and usually have a Wednesday delivery you will be able to order on Tuesday night for a delivery on Thursday 14th March.
Enjoy the long weekend!
Cheers,
Michael
Locally grown asparagus are available again, which is quite unusual. Usually the season starts in September, and finishes in the New Year.
Not sure how long they will go on for, but they are available this week.
We have a long weekend coming up, which causes a bit of disruption early in the week.
This coming week, deliveries as usual.
The following week there will be no deliveries on Wednesday 13th March (but some Wednesday customers will be able to get a Thursday delivery if they live in postcodes: 3131, 3132, 3133, 3134, 3135 and 3152).
Have a great week!
Michael
Up until this week plums have only been available as a per kg bag.
From now until the end of the season (which is still a few weeks away) they are available individually (each).
They are great tasting and are suitable to stew, make “Plum Paste” or eat whole.
We sell a comprehensive selection of herbs (see the “Herbs and Spices” section of the online store).
Red and Green Chillies are available in that section as well.
Have a great week!
Cheers,
Michael
Have you ever thought of making your own Tomato Sauce?
It’s that time of the year, 18kg boxes of saucing tomatoes are available this week!
There are also plenty of salad greens and lettuces to choose from:
Iceberg, Cos or Green Oak lettuce are all locally grown as are the salad greens: Salad Mix; Baby Spinach leaves and Rocket.
Have a great week,
Cheers,
Michael
Best of the stone fruits are the apricots (from Tasmania), peaches, nectarines and both coloured grapes (green and red). The apricots are particularly good just make sure they fully ripen (leave them until they are quite soft) which brings out the full flavour.
We have stocked the St. Ali’s “Wide Awake” coffee blend for over a year (available in both ground and beans).
Their “Orthodox” blend is now available, it’s not as strong as the “Wide Awake”.
You can read more about their coffee at https://stali.com.au/
Have a great week!
Cheers,
Michael
As I drove around delivering last week I had a bag of green seedless grapes not far away. Very crunchy and sweet at the moment, I can definitely recommend them.
Rocky Road is available again on the online store; the chocolate honey combe is one of our best sellers, I can also recommend that.
Broccoli has jumped in price over the past week, so it’s not the best time to buy it. If you do purchase a bunch, use it quickly as I’m not sure how long it will stay fresh. When I first started my business over thirty years ago, broccoli was only available in the winter. Because it proved so popular, growers developed ways of growing it all year round, but there are certain times of the year (like now) that it’s difficult to grow.
Lemons are also in short supply, which means they are expensive.
Have a great week!
Cheers,
Michael
Hi Everyone,
Weekly deliveries resume this week, I’ve had a good break, ready to go again in 2024!
We had a supplier issue with corn chips late last year, that’s been sorted, so they are back on the online store (only plain ones at this stage).
The stone fruits are still available (peaches, nectarines, plums and apricots) as well as seedless grapes (both red and green).
Just a reminder that there are no new season apples for at least another month. Last season’s are still available, best to stick with pink lady or granny smith as they are better towards the end of the season.
Have a great week; Have a great Year!
Cheers,
Michael
