I’ve added dried cranberries (in 150g tubs), pinenuts (in 125g tubs) and dried apricots (in 300g tubs) to our pantry section.
Have a great week!

Fresh from the market to your door
I say this every year, when the footy finals start, it’s a sign that locally grown asparagus from West Gippsland are available again from now until the start of next year.
Throw them on the BBQ grill, toss them in a stir fry, or fry them in a pan. There are plenty of ways to cook asparagus.
Maybe Spring has finally sprung!
Have a great week.
Cheers Michael
It’s the middle of the Queensland strawberry season, and there are plenty around due to the favourable growing conditions up north. When’s things are plentiful and in-season, quality is excellent, and prices are low. This is the case with Queensland strawberries at the moment.
I’m really enjoying the new season Afoura Mandarins at the moment. They are much sweeter than they were when we started them two weeks ago. Always very juicy, and reasonably easy to peel. These mandarins don’t have any pips.
Have a great week!

Add some colour to a lasagne, a pie or a pizza with Rainbow Silverbeet. Not as strong as regular silverbeet, use it in exactly the same way as spinach. Its colour is quite amazing!
A reminder that imperial mandarins have finished, replaced by the “Afoura” variety which are very juicy, seedless, and relatively easy to peel.
Have a great week!
Cheers, Michael
There are plenty of bananas in the market at the moment, so prices are good for consumers at the moment.
Most vegetables grow slower during winter, and leeks are no exception. Because they are popular at this time of the year (think potato and leek soup), they are in great demand. Growers are picking them and sending them off to market while they are still quite small. So, if you need a leek for a recipe, you might want to order two instead.
Have a great week!

If you haven’t tried rhubarb before, or haven’t eaten it in a while, then try making Rhubarb and Apple stew topped with a scoop of ice cream or cream (or both). It’s easy to make, and there are plenty of recipes and variations online.
Hoping to have Seville Oranges available this week or next. They are used to make Marmalade.
Have a great week!

Our honey supplier “Pure Peninsula Honey” does not heat any of their honeys during the extraction process thus retaining all of the honey’s natural goodness. Many mass produced honeys on the market are heated in order to quicken up the bottling process.
I reckon the best honey on toast or crumpets is the “Creamed Honey”. It’s gently stirred allowing tiny crystals to form naturally, creating a smooth & velvety texture.
Have a great week.
Cheers Michael
There are a number of different varieties of sweet potato, and they come in a range of colours. The stock standard one available in Australia is the ‘Gold’ variety which is a browny/orange colour.
I recently tried the Purple variety with the white flesh. It’s drier that the ‘Gold’, and has a nutty flavour. Definitely worth a try!
Have a great week!
